Four Aussie blogs for exercising brain cells

I read the following religiously:

  • The Bartlett Diaries, by Democrat Senator Andrew Bartlett. Thoughtful essays on social issues, include insights you won't glean from the newspapers.

  • Planet Irf, by Sydney-based lawyer Irfan Yusuf. Gently challenges orthodox thinking in Australian and Muslim politics, media and society.

  • The Fourth Estate, by new media consultant Mike Walsh. Convincing analysis of media and technology trends.

  • Criticality, by Steve Edney. Pulls apart the numbers and assumptions behind many claims that are made about the environment and Australian society.

My goal was to highlight five Aussie blogs for exercising brain cells. However, while I subscribe to, enjoy, learn from and happily recommend almost 250 local and overseas blogs, only four seemed to belong together in this list of stand-out local essayists.
