Future Melbourne wiki

Here's an idea for getting the community behind Sustainable Sydney 2030: stick it on a wiki so we can collectively write and therefore own the document, much like this initiative from the City of Melbourne.

Hi there and thanks for your post on the Future Melbourne wiki.

We're very excited by the opportunity that the emergence of wiki technology presents. As far as we can tell, this is the first time in the world that a local government has enabled anyone to directly edit the content of a city plan.

Hopefully you'll have a chance to logon at http://www.futuremelbourne.com.au before the public consultation period ends on 14 June.

We also plan to continue improving the functionality of the site after this date so people can still contribute via the discussion pages, as well as a number of other interactive elements which are in the pipeline.

Look forward to seeing you on the wiki soon!

Dale

You want a Sydneysider to edit a wiki about the future of Melbourne?

Hey Steven, good point. However, I believe our real answer to that question would be "why not!"

If it's a worthy suggestion or edit then it shouldn't matter so much where the edit originated. It's that exact philosophy which has enabled Wikipedia to grow to such proportions ;-)
